L82 Construction was sub contracted by Besterd Mechanical to undertake the civil portion of the storm drainage upgrades for the TD Canada Trust call centre building on York Street in London. The need for a drainage upgrade for the owner was required due to water backing up into the building and causing flooding.

A large portion of this project included the installation of 2400mm x 1200mm precast concrete box culvert to be used as a storm water holding tank. The dimensions of the tank were 73m x 14m which included 5 rows connected together with over 125 pieces, each piece weighed approximately 10 metric tonne. With this tank there was a storm manhole interceptor to unsure clean water entering the city storm sewers. In addition to installing the water storage tank the parking lot was upgraded with new storm sewers, grading, granular base, curb, sidewalks, landscaping and a new asphalt surface.

While constructing this project, a major constraint was required by the owner for the TD call centre not to be interrupted by construction activities and the parking lot to be constructed in section to alleviate employee parking needs. This was accomplished by all parties brainstorming and creating a solution to benefit the owner in conjunction with the logistics of construction.
